Hi folks,

I just want to remind all members to not delay on renewing. I will be processing all payments and updating the roster April 30, the roster for May 1 will go up that night. If the park doesn’t see your name on the list, you may not be able to swim (well at least outside of the swim area).

Now I am going to make an appeal to you members that sometimes forget to renew in a timely manner, please renew promptly. We have already paid our insurance for the season, and the park dues are due shortly. We need over 150 members to break even or we will have to raise the dues. Currently we have only 50 current members and nearly half of them are new as of this year. From the start, Al and I wanted to keep the cost of membership low, but over the past few years, renewal rates have been very low. Over the past 6 years, Al and I have tested 900 people (we have probably been to the lake over 200 times just to test people), yet less than 1 in 5 actually return from year to year?

Seriously, if you use Shadowcliffs, please make a point to renew promptly, it only takes a few minutes. For those of you that promptly renew, thank you very much, you make it all possible.

OK, I’ll RENEW NOW

Thank you kindly,
Al and John

We have already paid our insurance for the season, and the park dues are due shortly. We need over 150 members to break even or we will have to raise the dues. Last year, we had exactly 150 members and we achieved that only by testing and adding about 30 new members. We did not reach that number until August. Most of the new members required Al or myself to make special trip to the park to test just a few people, that’s time out of schedule. From the start, Al and I wanted to keep the cost of membership low, but over the past few years, renewal rates have been very low. Al and I have tested over 800 people, yet less than 1 in 4 actually return from year to year?

Seriously, if you use Shadowcliffs, make a point to renew promptly, it only takes a few minutes. For those of you that promptly renew, thank you very much, you make it all possible.

OK, I’ll RENEW NOW

Thank you kindly,

This event is FREE and open to all current Orcas Members, but if you are not a current member you can join or renew on race days.

We are looking to determine folks interest in Friday Night Bracket Racing.

What exactly is “Bracket Racing”? Well let’s start by saying you don’t have to be a fast swimmer, here’s the chance to kick Michael Phelps butt. What we do, is set up a course, probably to the rockpile and back.

When you enter the race, you give us the time that you think you can complete the course in, say 00:15:45 (15 minutes, 45 seconds), the closer you are to this time, the better your chances of winning.

In fact the winner would be the slowest person in the race, so long as they are the closest to the time they entered at the start. So even if you take around 45 minutes to go to the rockpile and back, you could beat out some one who can do it in 28 minutes, if you come closer to your entry time than the faster person, you would win.

We are still dialing in the process, we will likely dial in the process to make it more fun. The important thing is to have a good time, maybe step up your game a little and maybe even win. We’re working out some prizes for the fun of it too. And we might have some refreshments. Oh, one more thing, you can’t wear a watch during the race…
